Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Kalibo / Aklan Heritage Tour / Arrive Boracay
Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and proceed to the Aklan Heritage Tour. The Tour begins with a visit to the St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Built in 1851, the cathedral is a center of activities during the annual Ati-atihan festival, when devotees of the Santo Niño dress in colourful costumes and do the traditional “sadsad” (street dancing) to drumbeats and loud whistles. Next on the itinerary is the Museo-It-Akean housed in a renovated 19th century “escuela” (school) near the town plaza across the cathedral. The museum boasts an excellent collection of artifacts, heirlooms, and church relics. The final stop is at the Piña Weaving and Heritage Center which showcases the centuries-old tradition of piña (pineapple fiber) weaving that made Aklan famous. Here’s your chance to purchase souvenir items from Barong Tagalogs and Filipiniana dresses, to bags and jewelry. Lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to Caticlan—the jump-off point to Boracay Island. From there, you’ll be taking a 15-minute boat ride to the island. Upon arrival in Boracay, you will be met and transferred to your resort for check-in.
